Delhi Police have dismantled a counterfeit auto parts operation, arresting three individuals for allegedly selling fake switches branded with a well-known auto component manufacturer's name. Raids in Karol Bagh led to the seizure of 10,650 counterfeit switches, believed to be imported and sold as genuine products.
In a recent note, the global brokerage firm said India now commands a weight of 19 per cent in the above-mentioned portfolio as compared to 18.2 per cent in September 2023. India, it said, is a large liquid market and remains a counter-weight to North Asia if a slowdown in the West occurs and China's recovery disappoints.
Three additional vehicle makers and five more auto component makers will begin availing financial incentives under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the automobile sector from 2026-27 (FY27) onwards, Hanif Qureshi, additional secretary at the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), said on Wednesday.
'The trade deficit in some sectors is huge and that is an area of opportunity to localise.'
